I recently had a mom tell me that all most everything she eats is fat free. This isn’t a good thing. We need fat for energy, to help digest fat soluble vitamins and the cushioning of our organs. Also, a little bit of fat makes you feel fuller than without it. So you will ultimately not feel as hungry at the end of the day.
Our society has gone overboard in removing the fat in everything. For example, many fat free foods replace the fat with more sugar than their full or low fat counterpart. I noticed this in many baked good items and yogurts. The additional sugar causes a see saw effect on your body where you get a boost of energy then a huge crash leaving you feeling crummy and wanting more sugar. It’s a vicious cycle. So keep your overall fat intake fairly low but go ahead and have a full fat or low fat yogurt or that cookie just eat a little less and savor each bite!
Stay tuned.. On my next post I will explain the difference between “good fats and bad fats”.
